There I sketched things.

Nearly fell asleep at 6:30 because I was sitting in bed drawing pokemon for this thing I said I would do. Which is to eventually draw all of the original pokemon. It brings back memories I have of playing the games and just powering through it on the brute force of my over leveled pokemon. Things have gotten way more complex, barries and day/night cycles. Its all too involved for me.

I was talking with a friend this morning and I basically realized that before I played world of warcraft I use to read a TON and then trying to go to school, work and play with friends on the internet took up all my time for that. So now that I don't have the game anymore (I got bored with it after...6 or 7 years) and I have to basically retrain myself to do things like read books when I'm bored. Books, it seems, are an important part to my creative process. It is my way of refilling the well of life. I just never started reading again.

I need to work on gently heading towards self employment for things, at least as a means to make more money so I can pay down debts. They are the thing keeping me from...well having a life. Not that I don't have one, but I can't do many of the things I would like to because I simply don't have any extra money AND I get paid pretty well, so its just the debt sucking the life out of my funds.

Its a long term problem that needs a small steps solution. I am trying to take the first step by simply drawing more. The second step will probably involve the library rather heavily. But for now its finally late enough to go to sleep without worrying about waking up at 3am because my sleep cycle is done and now I'm UP!

The Danbird

So there is this guy I like at work, but I really don't think anything will ever happen. He did provide some awesome character material though. I'm sure it will be a really awkward moment if I ever blurt out "you're a rooster" but oh well, I haven't died of shame yet.

The character though is less like a rooster and more like a cross between a plague doctor and a vulture. 

I say the vulture because when I was painting this (acrylic on watercolor paper) the "skin" came out all red, but I imagine it being like having been burned accept soft. Contradictions abound! I don't know how I feel about the little head doodles he has going on. I much prefer the "spike" style I drew in another picture. [I imagine him setting little fires all over the place and then being contented or gleeful as they slowly encompass everything]

that chain thing, always always draw it on the wrong side without even thinking. Maybe...now I'm not so sure.

So raging hormones aside, that's what I've been up to. Everyone needs to go home and stop looking hot or cute or whatever else it is I'm attracted to. I have things I need to be doing and moping about boys is not one of them! I want to see where I can get with the dragon in the top picture. I like that it has a head similar to a pterosaur.

This, could have some out better. My pen settings on my tablet are currently awesome for sketching with, but super sad when I want more control. I like doing these by hand more anyhow. Some day biscuits will show up here too.

Might be Alone Forever...

I feel a bit better about this now, but its still a hard thing because this is where I was at emotionally in high school, and that was not fun times. This new chisel tip pen I got is pretty awesome though.

The lady in the coat I walked behind out of work. That was when I decided that "work" heels look kind of goony and I don't like them. I also had been bombarded with 50s style things and so I made the lady in the tiny shoes.

then I wrote a letter because I got one in the mail! Its pretty awesome getting letters in the mail :D

Sketches

I changed the settings on my tablet and now it works much more like a really fluid pen. Its AWESOME!

I also drove my car until it was completely out of gas today. That light that comes on really is a warning not just a suggestion. I was a mile from my house and my brother came with a gas can and helped me out. Then I went and paid for a full tank of gas.

I really wish I knew her name. She is paired with the twins, and I know her animal is a deer, but I don't really know what it is. Something keeps saying Melody, but that seems not quite right. I like the letter, but I just don't know.

Pretty pleased with the sheer fabric bits though. They came out much better than I thought I was doing. So that is a total accident yay!

Good Morning!

I don't even have a tie on my bathrobe. Only mine is plaid blue and white. Zaro will club you to death with that mug though. Blue is kind of too cheery for her morning coffee, it should have been white, with lots of stains. I imagine she doesn't let anyone really wash it. That nice buildup of coffee residue...mmm?

Cat Lady

This girl showed up again, apparently she has a cat. If this were my cat she would get bitten and then the cat would run away. If you want to hug something pick a dog. If you want to be friends with a bitch who likes to cuddle (but only on her own terms) then hug a cat.

In truth I'm pretty sure that my dad and brother let her bite them in play, and she doesn't know that isn't whats happening. Not so much story about the art, more about the family cat. Oh well!

Hey There & Bean Cakes

I drew this because my phone broke and I got a different one. Its not super awesome, even though everyone asks if its a blackberry all the time. Its not. But I think I'll like it anyhow.

These I could eat always. If I had access to them all the time I would probably make myself ill. They are a little like a pancake in flavor and have sweetened red bean paste in the middle. I don't know why they're often shaped like fish. I've been seeing lots of them as just round pancake looking things though. The fish are just fancy?

Cats Paw & Hot Hair

Not sure where I was really going with this, I just really like lines. I am (rather obviously) not very particular about them and the fact that the line up with one another super well. No ruler was used. Oh well.


Yeah apparently that little weird fauxhawk thing pretty cute when its not a douchy guy in a polo. So this card happened.

Curled Up

I had my other, other, speakers plugged into my computer. The ones with the sub speaker.
I listen to decent music at work, but its mostly indy-ish music because thats what my boss likes. I don't know what he would think of the house/techno stuff I normally play. Most people wouldn't be able to concentrate but I can take the most amazing and restful naps.

Its possible that all the things going on in the music gives my brain something to do while I use just a part of it to do something else. Its kind of like I have ADD but its mild and I taught myself to block out things. Then I weened myself off of it and now I can do both. Wouldn't work for everyone, but worked for me.

These are out of order now. I remember this being the first drawing that I had to get up and go get my gray tone markers. It just needed it! Then I made the previous one about the tape. Oh well.

More Tape

This is about...half of my sense of humor. I enjoy the absurd. Things in my head go together. Teeny roll of tape :3

I was thinking about reusing the masking tape for the borders of these drawings and how long could I reuse pieces for before they were mostly useless or too covered in marker.

I don't even need to save tape that much, I'm not quite that poor. Though I did pilfer this current roll from my mom rather than go out and buy my own, sooo...

Creepy Grass

Creepy Grass is creeeeeepy.
I don't really know. I think I was just playing with the negative space on this. I've seen people draw back over stuff with white, but I love everything I've done so much more when its not perfect and I have to remember that I wanted to leave a gap, or not color in the teeth.

OR that I have to make the teeth/eyes extra big because when I color in around them it will make them look much smaller.

Women's Baseball

I don't know what happened here. I drew this lady head and I didn't like it and then somehow all the accesories happened and the little skull and then the "sunglasses" because the eyes were creepy.

Filled in the background here because I could. You can see where it bleeds a little but that seems to be what is kind of happening with these. Its just the marker and the type of paper I am using. Its just how it is.

As a disclaimer I don't know anything at all about women's baseball. Don't get upset and eat a kitten or anything.

Eyes

This was a lot of eyes to draw. While I did so I was thinking that maybe they were eggs. Then I drew a few that were too close together and some of them looked like crude boobs...

Relax

This was the first one I did with the masking tape. I feel like someone could point out how the arms are wrong, but just relaaaaax people! Because I don't care, HA!

I like how the texture in the background came out. Markers are pretty sweet.

I really like color, but I seem to always gravitate towards black and white with pops of color vs. colors all over or full color stuff. Something to ponder, maybe something to push once I get bored with these. Maybe it will just happen naturally.

maybe its just kind of an exercise?

After sort of being settled at my job I found that I no longer came home and felt like crap. Actually compared to how much stress I had in my old position I could probably do my current job for two weeks straight without being at the same level of stress.


I decided to get myself back in the swing of posting things I would start making regular stuff and posting those. Kind of like a very free form assignment.

A while ago I cut a few sheets of white cardstock into quarters and then I drew the above. After that I didn't touch it anymore. Then recently I started going at it again with a inch masking tape border. I like it they're fairly quick and it makes me feel accomplished. I'm finding that is my motivator, feeling like I have actually done something.

So the plan is to make them on my weekends and post one a day during the week. In the past this has been my major issues, but coincidentally at my new job I am doing lots of printing/production style work so my main function right now is to produce stuff and then get it out to the departments so they can put it up for the customers. So I'm sort of putting that mental frame of mind to work on this. We shall see!

its nearly 2am - happy valentines day

WHOO! now everyone can make lemon cookies, and also heart shapes if you want to. took me longer than I wanted to think of doing it this way. So thats why its 2am and I'm still up. My mom wakes up in 2 hours. Very tired, but feeling accomplished.

I drew some stuff.

I think...just to have them doing something I will make all of the character sheets with them interacting with their cellphone. Because I know most of them have one, except possibly Saril. Dante has one but he doesn't use it a lot, and when people start talking at him he hands it off to his wife. So basically Saril just has a personal answering service for "their" phone.

mildly dissatisfied with Case's pagey thing. The wording seems to suggest he has a lynx, when really he can become a lynx. I guess I just think of alternate forms as tools to be used. Thus the wording.

New warmers!

Little Owl Warmers on etsy

I spent the morning making things for my lunch, moving clean and dirty dishes around, and then sewing all the hand warmers I started. Now I have no good reason not to post them.

I'm pretty excited about these because they are super cute. I realized I have some dinosaur ones in the works as well.

Now I'm gonna go make myself a pita pizza for lunch and head off to work.

Drew something

working on stuff for a new gallery site. I want to start doing more with my characters so they have sheets and stuff. BUT today I made a picture of what I’m wearing. I normally am a major black and white line sort of person, but I want to get better at doing color things. I want to be doing THINGS in general. So this is pretty quick, yet I also think its cute…

Little whale hand warmers!

Well I cleaned off my desk and did some other things and then suddenly I whipped out the camera and my nifty new full spectrum light I got for christmas AND tada! I finally posted the hand warmers on etsy: hand warmers!

I hope to have more up as well as some other patterns, soon.

They are filled with organic short grain rice. microwave 30 seconds and it stays warm for an hour or more!

My test subjects at work are still seeing if they work cold as well, but I don't think it will do as well.

edit: OH! I also updated the name of the shop to be drown rat as well. I suppose many people won't get it, but oh well. That's what it is! TO BAD!

Minor update.

Wow its really amazing what having my desk cleaned off can do.

Yesterday I went to a bridal expo. No I'm not getting married, apparently you need another person to get married to for that. Many of my friends are or have, though. There was a fashion show. I made these sketches when I was at coffee today however.

I also worked more on a job I've been not doing. I like where its going, but I don't know if its going to turn out like I want. It may require some more artsy fartsy treatments than just throwing a half tone on it. Because Oooo I learned how to create the halftone look! Stupidly excited about that one. Probably never going to get to use it!

I made a goal for myself, because I suspect that even if I don't think they work for me I might be wrong. I just don't get super excited when I meet my goal because, I'm past it at that point seeing something else out there. But if I don't have points to hit along the way I tend not to get anywhere? That is the hypothesis anyhow.
