just smash "paint" down. that's all I have to remember. its just like lines, I just have to use a bigger brush.

The Danbird

So there is this guy I like at work, but I really don't think anything will ever happen. He did provide some awesome character material though. I'm sure it will be a really awkward moment if I ever blurt out "you're a rooster" but oh well, I haven't died of shame yet.

The character though is less like a rooster and more like a cross between a plague doctor and a vulture. 

I say the vulture because when I was painting this (acrylic on watercolor paper) the "skin" came out all red, but I imagine it being like having been burned accept soft. Contradictions abound! I don't know how I feel about the little head doodles he has going on. I much prefer the "spike" style I drew in another picture. [I imagine him setting little fires all over the place and then being contented or gleeful as they slowly encompass everything]

that chain thing, always always draw it on the wrong side without even thinking. Maybe...now I'm not so sure.

So raging hormones aside, that's what I've been up to. Everyone needs to go home and stop looking hot or cute or whatever else it is I'm attracted to. I have things I need to be doing and moping about boys is not one of them! I want to see where I can get with the dragon in the top picture. I like that it has a head similar to a pterosaur.

I changed the settings on my tablet and now it works much more like a really fluid pen. Its AWESOME!

I also drove my car until it was completely out of gas today. That light that comes on really is a warning not just a suggestion. I was a mile from my house and my brother came with a gas can and helped me out. Then I went and paid for a full tank of gas.

I really wish I knew her name. She is paired with the twins, and I know her animal is a deer, but I don't really know what it is. Something keeps saying Melody, but that seems not quite right. I like the letter, but I just don't know.

Pretty pleased with the sheer fabric bits though. They came out much better than I thought I was doing. So that is a total accident yay!

Good Morning!

I don't even have a tie on my bathrobe. Only mine is plaid blue and white. Zaro will club you to death with that mug though. Blue is kind of too cheery for her morning coffee, it should have been white, with lots of stains. I imagine she doesn't let anyone really wash it. That nice buildup of coffee residue...mmm?

I drew some stuff.

I think...just to have them doing something I will make all of the character sheets with them interacting with their cellphone. Because I know most of them have one, except possibly Saril. Dante has one but he doesn't use it a lot, and when people start talking at him he hands it off to his wife. So basically Saril just has a personal answering service for "their" phone.

mildly dissatisfied with Case's pagey thing. The wording seems to suggest he has a lynx, when really he can become a lynx. I guess I just think of alternate forms as tools to be used. Thus the wording.

Made things today, drawing style.

I completed something!!! I am part of a sketch exchange on livejournal and almost everyone who has drawn my characters says how they didn't really understand the reference pictures and stuff.
So I finally made one of my characters a sort of page about them. A character page.
This is Case. I don't even know what he is. Sometimes people have characters that are based on just one animal, but I created these guys and THEN started using animal reference for them. So now I think of rat feet when I draw Case's feet, and I think of a kangaroo tail when I draw his tail (though slightly more flexy) I think of bull terrier ears when I draw the ears. I have no idea on the head and of course siamese cats for the points.

I decided he can turn into a lynx with wings, which I figured was a pretty awesome symbol for being the messenger. I mean who doesn't want to have your mail delivered by a silver lynx that is suddenly sitting on your kitchen table. Scare the crap out of you for pure hilarity.

While I was looking up owl wings I found this story, about wesley the owl and his person, and then I promptly cried all over. Then I went to work, and that was my day.

one nice thing about having time off is I have all kinds of free time to get bored and draw.

I used a brush in photoshop to get this effect. Its not great painting or anything. But it is the beginning to the 100 words thing as well as the story that came out of it. Nothing is really happeneing though in the story so I don't know what will really come of it.

*I do not know why sometimes these don't load in internet explorer but I went back through everything IN internet explorer and only one thing didn't load other than this and I know I've had problems more than once before. So either it will eventually show up or it won't. It won't even let me link to it.

I participated in the cheshire ball and while my cat doesn't have a whole lot to do with halloween I like him anyhow.

"Mooncat belongs to the moon. While he does not glow himself he can leave a dull white yellow glow trail, like a slug, and uses this ability to leave crude words or pictures on people's doors, porches or lawns. He can be found at night munching on berries from garden shrubs. Once Mooncat made the moon sad by not coming home in the morning, and he wears a "tear" around his neck to remember next time...probably. Mooncat is about medium dog sized."

imagine looking out front of your house and this giant cat-thing munching on your shrubbery! Maybe its because I don't associate halloween with scary its more of a family time feeling for me. Though lately with everyone going all over its less actual family time.

some day I'll actually get to make skull things in celebration. But who knows when I'll stop being a lazy poop and do that.

no comic page sorry. But I have been planning out how I want the pages to go and some dialog for it. Then the cheshire thing happened and I did that instead.

internet radio is cool because I can get stuff from other countries, like dance music stuff. But really do they need to talk over whole songs at a time. Like anyone cares about anything other than that the song is going on and it keeps getting interrupted. I get annoyed when this happens on regular radio too so not even that I can't understand what is being said.

new one on top repost on bottom. The face isn't right. I can't draw faces because I have a hard time looking at real faces. Which is the problem, cause people that have good cartoonish faces often started drawing regular faces.

making a website takes a long time. I guess I should just focus on getting my portfolio presentable. And handing in my resume to the people in career services at school.

radar love

So I was driving home from work and I heard the song Radar Love by Golden Earring* and thought to myself (at the time I thought he was singing redeye love) how this is like one of my characters. Even though I know its not redeye, and instead radar I still think it fits.

Nicholas is death. So I can only assume he is destined to be with the character that brings life. Only it would be hard to be together? I think of the sun and the mood story and how they can never be in the same sky together even though they love each other or something. So basically they can be together from a distance. And even though nicholas is death its more of like a CEO thing, where he just has to do damage control should any of the reapers and stuff working with the souls have complications. It makes him have to be less like santa, and visit every dying thing everywhere all the time forever. I think originally his mother tried to help him when he was little but he quickly decided whatever system she had set up wasn't going to be effective and instated the current workings of dying and souls. None of which I have figured out yet.

*I'm not this music savvy, but I had to look up the song and...acquire it. So now I know all the details like who sings it etc.

I want to do this as the first part to my comic, nona's mother procuring for her the same apartment that she began in. But I can't do any kind of layout well enough to make me not want to throw it out. I keep seeing it like a movie instead of in panels or even in still shots. my mind just wants to rush past it. I guess maybe because its not important really, other than to make this lady scary. which isn't really happening either.

I'm not sure how to spell it. But I mean the game with the little wire arches and the mallets that you use to hit a ball to a stick...or something. I never played for real myself.

this is suppose to be Nicholas standing in the middle, with his brothers laying in the hammock and sitting next to it waiting their turn. In the back is a little one room cottage type thing that is full of tons of books and a bed of some sorts. Though most often nicholas ends up sleeping in the hammock outside.

nicholas has 8 arms/legs. four are "hidden" I have a difficult time drawing them the way I want.
