the other question...why don't I just look up a pattern and not have to do all the figuring myself? because I love figuring things out, its so frustrating, but satisfying.

adorable guy

this guy had these headphones on, and he looked adorable while he read over something on his laptop. I was across the room and trying to scrawl bits I liked before I was seen, or my meeting started. He was drinking straight out of one of those big thermos things where you normally pour yourself cups of coffee from. Very cleanly dressed, can’t really tell from the scrawl I drew in.

When I do things like this it always feels like I’m “doing it wrong” or that what I make is not valid because I don’t enjoy doing things in the way so many other people seem to. I don’t even know if that actually sums up how I felt doing this. It felt wrong, like I was ruining something by taking the time to draw it instead of just observing. I feel similarly about photos, and rarely ever take them, as people who have been on vacation with me will note.

Lots of sketchy things today apparently. Don't want to go to work tomorrow I feel like I don't have time for this on work days. Need to remember to bring my sketch book places.

This, could have some out better. My pen settings on my tablet are currently awesome for sketching with, but super sad when I want more control. I like doing these by hand more anyhow. Some day biscuits will show up here too.

sketchy bits

The lady in the coat I walked behind out of work. That was when I decided that "work" heels look kind of goony and I don't like them. I also had been bombarded with 50s style things and so I made the lady in the tiny shoes.

then I wrote a letter because I got one in the mail! Its pretty awesome getting letters in the mail :D

Sketches

I changed the settings on my tablet and now it works much more like a really fluid pen. Its AWESOME!

I also drove my car until it was completely out of gas today. That light that comes on really is a warning not just a suggestion. I was a mile from my house and my brother came with a gas can and helped me out. Then I went and paid for a full tank of gas.

I drew some stuff.

I think...just to have them doing something I will make all of the character sheets with them interacting with their cellphone. Because I know most of them have one, except possibly Saril. Dante has one but he doesn't use it a lot, and when people start talking at him he hands it off to his wife. So basically Saril just has a personal answering service for "their" phone.

mildly dissatisfied with Case's pagey thing. The wording seems to suggest he has a lynx, when really he can become a lynx. I guess I just think of alternate forms as tools to be used. Thus the wording.

working on stuff for a new gallery site. I want to start doing more with my characters so they have sheets and stuff. BUT today I made a picture of what I’m wearing. I normally am a major black and white line sort of person, but I want to get better at doing color things. I want to be doing THINGS in general. So this is pretty quick, yet I also think its cute…

Made things today, drawing style.

I completed something!!! I am part of a sketch exchange on livejournal and almost everyone who has drawn my characters says how they didn't really understand the reference pictures and stuff.
So I finally made one of my characters a sort of page about them. A character page.
This is Case. I don't even know what he is. Sometimes people have characters that are based on just one animal, but I created these guys and THEN started using animal reference for them. So now I think of rat feet when I draw Case's feet, and I think of a kangaroo tail when I draw his tail (though slightly more flexy) I think of bull terrier ears when I draw the ears. I have no idea on the head and of course siamese cats for the points.

I decided he can turn into a lynx with wings, which I figured was a pretty awesome symbol for being the messenger. I mean who doesn't want to have your mail delivered by a silver lynx that is suddenly sitting on your kitchen table. Scare the crap out of you for pure hilarity.

While I was looking up owl wings I found this story, about wesley the owl and his person, and then I promptly cried all over. Then I went to work, and that was my day.

today's stuff

one nice thing about having time off is I have all kinds of free time to get bored and draw.

I've been feeling crappy all day. Of course on my day off.
Need to start my third scarf and watch more tv on dvd I guess.

Never ate lunch and I'm so hungry but apparently at some point there will be dinner?

I used a brush in photoshop to get this effect. Its not great painting or anything. But it is the beginning to the 100 words thing as well as the story that came out of it. Nothing is really happeneing though in the story so I don't know what will really come of it.

*I do not know why sometimes these don't load in internet explorer but I went back through everything IN internet explorer and only one thing didn't load other than this and I know I've had problems more than once before. So either it will eventually show up or it won't. It won't even let me link to it.

I participated in the cheshire ball and while my cat doesn't have a whole lot to do with halloween I like him anyhow.

"Mooncat belongs to the moon. While he does not glow himself he can leave a dull white yellow glow trail, like a slug, and uses this ability to leave crude words or pictures on people's doors, porches or lawns. He can be found at night munching on berries from garden shrubs. Once Mooncat made the moon sad by not coming home in the morning, and he wears a "tear" around his neck to remember next time...probably. Mooncat is about medium dog sized."

imagine looking out front of your house and this giant cat-thing munching on your shrubbery! Maybe its because I don't associate halloween with scary its more of a family time feeling for me. Though lately with everyone going all over its less actual family time.

some day I'll actually get to make skull things in celebration. But who knows when I'll stop being a lazy poop and do that.

new one on top repost on bottom. The face isn't right. I can't draw faces because I have a hard time looking at real faces. Which is the problem, cause people that have good cartoonish faces often started drawing regular faces.

making a website takes a long time. I guess I should just focus on getting my portfolio presentable. And handing in my resume to the people in career services at school.

So I was driving home from work and I heard the song Radar Love by Golden Earring* and thought to myself (at the time I thought he was singing redeye love) how this is like one of my characters. Even though I know its not redeye, and instead radar I still think it fits.

Nicholas is death. So I can only assume he is destined to be with the character that brings life. Only it would be hard to be together? I think of the sun and the mood story and how they can never be in the same sky together even though they love each other or something. So basically they can be together from a distance. And even though nicholas is death its more of like a CEO thing, where he just has to do damage control should any of the reapers and stuff working with the souls have complications. It makes him have to be less like santa, and visit every dying thing everywhere all the time forever. I think originally his mother tried to help him when he was little but he quickly decided whatever system she had set up wasn't going to be effective and instated the current workings of dying and souls. None of which I have figured out yet.

*I'm not this music savvy, but I had to look up the song and...acquire it. So now I know all the details like who sings it etc.

well this picture seems to work in explorer. I don't know why some of them come up and some don't. Its possible that blogger is being stupid not just explorer.

anyhow. I have been liking limey green colors for a long while now and I want to have a place of my own to live in and basically have a life. So that's what I made.

there will be buttons across the top and in the middleish part information. I need to see about these gallery code or things. I like how it works but I haven't been able to find where people get them or if they just write the code themselves. I don't think they write it themselves...so its out there somewhere.

In the mean time I need to finish my resume and start turning it into regular businessy jobs. I just need a full time job that isn't as horrible as dealing with mean people all day in retail.
